How to Open a .docx File with Apple Pages on a Mac

If you have a .docx file (Microsoft Word document) and want to open it using Apple Pages, follow these steps:

Method 1: Open Directly in Pages

  1. Locate the .docx File

    • Find the file in Finder (your file manager on Mac).
  2. Right-click the File

    • If you have a trackpad, use two fingers to click the file.
    • If you have a mouse, right-click the file.
  3. Choose "Open With" > "Pages"

    • Hover over "Open With", then select Pages from the list.
  4. Wait for Pages to Convert the File

    • Pages will automatically convert the .docx file into a compatible format.
    • You may see a message about missing fonts or formatting changes.
  5. Edit and Save

    • You can now edit the document.
    • If you want to save it in Pages format, go to File > Save.
    • If you want to keep it as a Word document, go to File > Export To > Word.
