UKIHCA membership for PREKURE graduates
The UK & International Health Coaching Association (UKIHCA) is a professional body for health coaches internationally. This page explains how PREKURE graduates can apply for membership and how it relates to ongoing professional development.
Which PREKURE graduates can become full UKIHCA members?
If you have graduated from one of the following PREKURE programmes, you are eligible to apply for full UKIHCA membership:
- Master Health Coach Programme
- Mental Health Coach Programme
- Nutrition & Metabolic Health Coach Programme
You still need to apply to UKIHCA and complete its membership process. Graduating does not automatically enrol you as a member.
Can I apply if I have completed the Health Coach Program?
It depends on your circumstances. The PREKURE Health Coach Program provides 370 hours of training. UKIHCA's training requirement for full membership is 600 hours, so this programme alone does not meet that requirement.
UKIHCA considers applications from Health Coach Program graduates case by case. Relevant qualifications, prior learning and professional experience can be considered through recognition of prior learning.
If you are a registered health professional, or have other related qualifications or experience, it is worth applying and explaining your background. UKIHCA can recognise relevant prior learning towards eligibility. Acceptance depends on its assessment of your individual application.
How do I apply?
- Tell UKIHCA which PREKURE programme you have completed.
- If you have completed the Health Coach Program, explain your related qualifications and experience and ask about recognition of prior learning.
- Follow UKIHCA's current application process and check the applicable membership fees and conditions.
Start with UKIHCA's full membership information. If you need your qualifications and experience assessed, contact UKIHCA about the appropriate route. Its Portfolio Route page also explains how professional backgrounds and experience can be considered.
For membership questions, contact info@ukihca.com. For help identifying your PREKURE qualification or training, contact info@prekure.com.
Is full membership the same as Registered Health Coach status?
Full UKIHCA membership and UKIHCA Registered Health Coach status are distinct. Registered Health Coach status involves meeting additional ongoing professional requirements.
UKIHCA's current Register guidance lists:
- 25 hours of CPD each year
- A minimum of 10 coaching practice sessions
- Engagement with supervision
See UKIHCA's Registered Health Coach guidance for the current requirements and how to join the Register.
If you graduated from PREKURE prior to 2026, you may need to complete additional CPD requirements. Please contact UKIHCA regarding this.
How does PREKURE Network PLUS support UKIHCA registration?
Network PLUS includes all standard Network benefits, plus the CPD and supervision needed to support UKIHCA Registered Health Coach requirements. You must complete these activities, meet UKIHCA's other eligibility requirements and apply to UKIHCA yourself. PREKURE does not complete or submit your UKIHCA membership or registration application for you.
At the current published rate, Network PLUS is NZ$99 per month and includes:
- 25 hours of accredited CPD each year across the UKIHCA pillars
- Four small-group supervision sessions each year
Joining Network PLUS does not automatically make you a UKIHCA member or a Registered Health Coach. UKIHCA will assess your application. The programme eligibility and recognition-of-prior-learning requirements explained above still apply.
See the current Network and Network PLUS joining page for benefits, rates and conditions, or read our Network membership guide.
Joining PLUS and applying to UKIHCA
New members can choose Join Network PLUS on the joining page. Once you have joined PLUS, contact the PREKURE team for the UKIHCA application instructions and any applicable registration link or code. You must complete and submit your own application directly to UKIHCA. Membership and Registered Health Coach status remain subject to UKIHCA's requirements and approval.
Network PLUS covers your UKIHCA membership fee. PREKURE pays this fee, so Network PLUS members pay $0 to UKIHCA for membership. You must still complete and submit your own application directly to UKIHCA. Membership and registration remain subject to UKIHCA's eligibility requirements and approval.
You will need current professional indemnity insurance in your name that covers your coaching practice. Insurance is not included in Network PLUS. Provide your current insurance certificate when applying.
Can I keep my founding Network rate?
If you are on a founding Network rate that is cheaper than the current Network rate, you can keep that Network rate. Please contact the PREKURE team at info@prekure.com before signing up or changing your membership so we can arrange this for you.
If you are upgrading to Network PLUS, the team will confirm your applicable PLUS price, including the PLUS fee, before arranging your upgrade.
How does UKIHCA membership relate to PREKURE's annual declaration?
UKIHCA is one of the recognised professional bodies accepted for PREKURE's annual declaration. Coaches using PREKURE brand marks or listed in the PREKURE Health Coach Directory must maintain their professional requirements and complete the declaration each year.
Your declaration is due every 12 months on your graduation anniversary. If it remains outstanding one month after its due date, your Directory listing will be removed.
Mental Health and Master Health Coaches must also confirm four supervision sessions within the previous 12 months. If you want to use Network PLUS group sessions towards your individual supervision requirements, confirm this with Student Success.
Read the Mental Health coaching supervision guide for PREKURE's supervisor criteria and recommended contacts.
UKIHCA is one accepted option. Another recognised health coaching or health professional body may also qualify. Where there is no professional health coaching body in your region, PREKURE provides a route to submit 20 hours of CPD directly and provide proof of insurance.
Read the annual declaration requirements and PREKURE's CPD guidance, or submit your annual declaration.
If you are returning to coaching, you keep your PREKURE qualification. Read how to restart as a Health Coach for the steps to restore active professional-body membership and apply for PREKURE brand marks.
For ongoing learning and support after your programme, see your next steps after completing a PREKURE programme.
PREKURE's post-graduation professional-registration deadline: Unconfirmed. Contact Student Success for current guidance on continued brand and Directory use.
Does UKIHCA endorsement mean PREKURE is NBHWC approved?
PREKURE Health Coach training is endorsed by UKIHCA. PREKURE is not currently NBHWC approved. These are separate organisations and approval processes. See our NBHWC article.
